Why You Should Declutter Before Your Cleaning Appointment

One of the most common questions we get: "Do I need to clean before you come?" No — that's our job. But decluttering? That's worth doing.

Decluttering vs. Cleaning: Different Jobs

Cleaning removes dirt, dust, and bacteria. Decluttering removes stuff. Professional cleaners can't move personal belongings around to clean underneath them without your direction — so surfaces covered in items don't get cleaned as thoroughly as clear ones.

What Actually Helps

You don't need to deep-organize — just clear the surfaces and floors. 10-15 minutes of pickup before we arrive makes a significant difference in cleaning quality.

When You Don't Have Time

Life happens. We'll work around clutter and note in your file what areas we couldn't fully access. On your next visit, try to clear those spots and we'll catch them up.

The 15-Minute Pre-Clean Routine

  1. Do one pass through the house with a laundry basket — drop any misplaced items in
  2. Clear kitchen and bathroom counters
  3. Put any dishes in the dishwasher or sink
  4. Do a quick floor pickup in each room

That's it. We handle everything from there.
